Pre-Layoff Assistance and Outplacement Services

NOVA offers services to companies facing sudden organizational change. Whether you are considering a layoff, shutting down a division, or contemplating a business closure, you need to ensure a smooth, timely transition for your company and your employees. NOVA can provide assistance with the many tasks involved, from dealing with government regulations to providing career exploration and re-employment services for affected workers.

Services include:

• Confidential consultation during the initial planning stages
  
• Career transition services and informational briefings for affected employees (both exempt and nonexempt)
  
• Assistance in understanding Unemployment Insurance costs, government regulations
  
• Current labor market information
  
• Assistance in securing funding for retraining employees
  

NOVA's outplacement services are funded through the State's Rapid Response Program. This program enables NOVA staff to provide assistance whenever a business contacts NOVA about an upcoming organizational change, or whenever a company issues a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) notice for a pending mass layoff or plant closure.

Career transition services can include:

• One-on-one coaching to develop personal re-employment strategies
  
• Job search strategy workshop series (transition management, resume development, job search strategies, interviewing, etc.)
  
• Vocational assessment of aptitude, interests, values, transferable skills, English language skill level, personality and/or management style
  
• Training
  
• Job search assistance
  
• Immediate access to the CONNECT! Job Seeker Center's computers and career development library
  
• Opportunity for membership in ProMatch, a networking organization for Silicon Valley professionals
