ProMatch

ProMatch, a service for job-seeking professionals at both management and individual contributor levels, is an excellent source of candidates for today's labor market. There is no fee to participants or the business community as ProMatch is co-sponsored by the NOVA Workforce Board and the California Employment Development Department in Sunnyvale.

ProMatch members' mini-resumes, called "Profiles," are posted online so that businesses have access to the latest information about ProMatch members. ProMatch staff works with hiring managers to find the right people to interview.

Additionally, employers' staffing needs are posted in ProMatch's resource center. Job openings are announced at ProMatch membership meetings and businesses are encouraged to be on employer speaker panels to address ProMatch members directly. Proven People

Proven People specializes in part-time and full-time job placement for adults aged 55 and older who live in Santa Clara County. Applicants receive a pre-employment screening, are aided in the employment process (interviewing tips, resume preparation), obtain job referrals from prospective employers with job openings, and are given follow-up counseling to ensure a successful placement.

Proven People is operated by NOVA and charges no fees for its employment and referral service. Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The office is closed on Fridays.

Hire a Youth or Offer Internships

Through Youth@Work (www.youthatwork.org) businesses can post job openings for Santa Clara Valley and Peninsula youth, aged 16-24. There is no fee for this service. Youth@Work is an on-line, interactive database that allows youth seeking jobs to find your employment opportunities. Job duties and salaries are listed but businesses' names are not revealed online. To receive job referrals, youth must first attend a pre-employment workshop and meet with a NOVA Youth Employment Program counselor.

On-The-Job Training (OJT) Program:

NOVA's On-The-Job Training Program (OJT) can help you connect with the right employee for your job. You may receive reimbursement of up to 50% of your new employee's wage during a specified training period, usually two to four months. NOVA may also provide uniform and tool reimbursements. NOVA keeps reimbursement simple and minimizes paperwork so that you can concentrate on working with your new employee.

Additionally, NOVA's professional staff stays in contact with all OJT employees to help them adjust to their new work environment and maintain their commitment to their employers.
